What the four words mean
current — published within the schedule it runs on. delayed — a scheduled window has passed with nothing published, and what is published is still inside its freshness limit. degraded — still publishing, with something behind it unread or failed. stale — past a freshness limit. The indicator in the bar above says the same word from the same judgement.
The severe ingest rows use three words of their own, and sit outside the verdict above until that section launches. current — every source was read inside its budget (5 min for warnings, 20 min for outlooks). down — a source's last good read is older than that. not reported — nothing has been read yet, which is never the same as nothing in force. A row takes the worst of its sources' words, and names each source that is not current. The local forecasts row is asked for only when a reader chooses a town: it is down after 3 requests to NWS in a row fail, and a quiet spell is no request, never a fault.
