Storm ingredients: SPC’s hourly analysis

Surface moisture: Surface temperature, dew point and sea-level pressure (°F, mb)
Temperature and dew point at the ground, and pressure. Dew points in the 60s °F and higher are the moist air severe storms usually need.
The technical reading
SPC’s objective analysis of the surface: temperature and dew point in °F, dew point shaded from 56 °F, isobars of mean sea-level pressure in millibars, and wind barbs. It blends the hourly observations with a short-range model first guess, so it can differ from a single station.
An ingredient, not a forecast: SPC’s analysis of the hour, from observations and a short-range model’s first guess. No one value is a warning or an outcome; storms need several ingredients together, and something to start them.

Not an official warning service. Warnings and watches are the National Weather Service’s, outlooks and reports the Storm Prediction Center’s and the Weather Prediction Center’s (Data: NOAA/NWS, NOAA/SPC, NOAA/WPC). When a warning is issued for you, act on it, and use weather.gov or a NOAA Weather Radio for where you are.
