This map draws the contiguous United States, and Guam is beyond it. What is in force there is listed under “In force in this area”.
Interactive imagery loads separately. Missing radar does not remove warnings or imply clear weather.
Alert outlines: NOAA/NWS; cell points/observed segments: IEM/NEXRAD. A warning polygon is not a tornado footprint.
Total lightning, including in-cloud activity. Not ground-strike locations or a safe-to-go-outside signal.
Cached lightning observations have not loaded. An empty map is not zero lightning.
Source-rendered snow depth and snow water equivalent for the lower 48. History changes this snow picture only; warnings and radar keep their own clocks.
Stored snow depth · footprint valid 2026-10-16 21:00:00 UTC, picture retrieved 2026-10-17 05:23:07.248 UTC.
No NOHRSC picture displayed on the interactive map.

NOHRSC footprint times are metadata; pixel analysis time is not independently verified. Snow-depth pixels have previously differed from the footprint time. This is modeled/assimilated snow analysis, not a measurement at a place. Unshaded and no-data areas do not establish zero snow.
Collector checked not reported; feed generated not reported. Zero cells does not establish coverage or clear weather. Observations from different radars are not merged.
Current NWS warning
Typhoon Warning
Make the final preparations to protect life and property. Rush to completion the hardening of your home or business by closing shutters and bracing garage doors. If evacuating, leave as soon as possible. Guard against being stuck out on roadways when dangerous winds and heavy rains arrive. Again, do not stay in a metal roof or container home. Remember, pets are not allowed in most official shelters, so check ahead with your intended shelter. If staying in a home, turn the refrigerator to maximum cold and keep it closed. Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances. Fill the bathtub with water in case the tap water becomes unavailable after the storm. This is for cleaning and flushing purposes. Do not drink it.
The polygon is a warned area, not a tornado footprint. NWS detection tags are independent of radar algorithms and reports.

...CHAMPI UPGRADED TO TYPHOON AND BARRELING TOWARD THE MARIANAS... .NEW INFORMATION... None. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides information and recommended action for people on Guam, and people on Rota, Tinian and Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas. .Watches/Warnings... A Typhoon Warning continues for Guam and Rota. A Tropical Storm Warning and a Typhoon Watch continue for Tinian and Saipan. A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Guam and the Northern Marianas. Please listen closely for any Flood Warnings that might be in effect for your area. Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed information about additional hazards. .STORM INFORMATION... At 100 PM ChST, the center of Typhoon Champi (29W) was located near latitude 12.5N and longitude 148.0E. This was about 225 miles east- southeast of Guam. Storm motion was west-northwest, 290 degrees, at 18 mph. Storm intensity has increased to 100 mph, making it a Category 2 typhoon. This general forecast track will take Champi just south of Guam as a Category 3 typhoon as it intensifies further the next few days. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Showers and winds will continue to steadily increase the rest of today, to then deteriorate significantly tonight as newly upgraded Typhoon Champi continues to move in from the east-southeast. Champi is undergoing a period of rapid intensification, strengthening further as the day goes on. The most recent storm tracks continue to indicate Champi passing either south, or over, Guam Sunday morning, which may potentially bring devastating wind conditions to much of Guam during passage. Winds and rain will come in rapidly, with winds becoming dangerous and life threatening very soon after onset. Do not let a false sense of normalcy now dictate your actions tomorrow; prepare NOW!
