NWS’s polygons as issued, or the zones a zone-issued alert names; SPC’s watches by their counties. Checked . Data: NOAA/NWS, NOAA/SPC.
Interactive imagery loads separately. Missing radar does not remove warnings or imply clear weather.
Alert outlines: NOAA/NWS; cell points/observed segments: IEM/NEXRAD. A warning polygon is not a tornado footprint.
Total lightning, including in-cloud activity. Not ground-strike locations or a safe-to-go-outside signal.
Cached lightning observations have not loaded. An empty map is not zero lightning.
Source-rendered snow depth and snow water equivalent for the lower 48. History changes this snow picture only; warnings and radar keep their own clocks.
Stored snow depth · footprint valid 2026-10-16 21:00:00 UTC, picture retrieved 2026-10-17 05:23:07.248 UTC.
No NOHRSC picture displayed on the interactive map.

NOHRSC footprint times are metadata; pixel analysis time is not independently verified. Snow-depth pixels have previously differed from the footprint time. This is modeled/assimilated snow analysis, not a measurement at a place. Unshaded and no-data areas do not establish zero snow.
Collector checked not reported; feed generated not reported. Zero cells does not establish coverage or clear weather. Observations from different radars are not merged.

Red Flag Warning
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
The polygon is a warned area, not a tornado footprint. NWS detection tags are independent of radar algorithms and reports.
Red Flag Warning issued October 16 at 12:28PM CDT until October 17 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE SATURDAY... .A cold front will move through the area later today bringing very dry air with RH values falling into the low to mid 30s along with windy conditions with some gusts around 30 mph. The combination of gusty winds, current drought conditions, ample dry fuel, and very dry conditions will allow any fire that develops to spread quickly. The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Red Flag Warning all southern Mississippi and portions of southeast Louisiana, which is in effect from 9 AM to 8 PM CDT Saturday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * AFFECTED AREA...Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana, East Feliciana, St. Helena, Washington, Iberville, West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge, Assumption, St. James, Wilkinson, Amite, Pike, Northern Tangipahoa, Walthall, Southeast St. Tammany, Pearl River, Northern St. Tammany, Southwestern St. Tammany, Hancock, Central Tangipahoa, Harrison, Lower Tangipahoa, Jackson, Northern Livingston, Southern Livingston, Western Ascension and Eastern Ascension. * WINDS...North 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Not an official warning service. Warnings and watches are the National Weather Service’s, outlooks and reports the Storm Prediction Center’s and the Weather Prediction Center’s (Data: NOAA/NWS, NOAA/SPC, NOAA/WPC). When a warning is issued for you, act on it, and use weather.gov or a NOAA Weather Radio for where you are.
